About OEHRM

In June 2017, VA announced its decision to replace the department’s current electronic health record (EHR) system with a package of commercial EHR products. The goal of this initiative is to modernize VA’s health care technology infrastructure and create interoperability with the Department of Defense and the U.S. Coast Guard.

When fully deployed, this system will represent a monumental advancement in Veteran health care.

OEHRM is responsible for overseeing VA’s transition to the new EHR system. OEHRM ensures the modernized EHR meets the department’s needs and enables the seamless delivery of health care to Veterans and qualified beneficiaries.

Mission statement

Modernize VA’s electronic health record system with a commercial solution to improve the delivery of quality health care to Veterans, enhance the provider experience and promote interoperability with the Department of Defense and community care providers.

Vision statement

Each Veteran has a comprehensive health record accessible across VA, the Department of Defense, the U.S. Coast Guard and community care providers to enhance the quality of their health care.
